ACCC Issues Unit Pricing Guides

Today the Consumer Affairs Minister Dr Craig Emerson announced the introduction of a national unit pricing industry code http://minister.innovation.gov.au/Emerson/Pages/NATIONALUNITPRICING.aspx

The ACCC has now released its guidance material (attached) to help retailers determine whether the code affects them and, if so, their obligations under the code.

·         Unit pricing: a guide for grocery retailers (3MB PDF) - This booklet provides comprehensive information about: 

o   which retailers have to display unit pricing

o   how unit pricing information must be displayed

o   which items are exempt from unit pricing

o   unit measurements for different types of groceries.

·         Unit pricing: a quick guide (445KB PDF) – a short pamphlet, incorporating a flow chart, aimed at helping grocery retailers to determine whether they are affected by the code.
