Western Australian Consultation Documents - Tobacco Products Control Amendment Act
In late December 2009 and March 2010 the Western Australian Department of Health (DOH) wrote to a number of industry stakeholders advising a process of consultation to develop regulations to support the bans on smoking and the ban on the display of tobacco products in retail outlets that will commence on 22 September 2010 under the Tobacco Products Control Act 2006 as amended by the Tobacco Products Control Amendment Act 2009 (the Amendment Act).
Two Position Papers which detail proposals to amend the Tobacco Products Control Regulations 2006 consequential to the Amendment Act have been developed by the DOH. Position Paper A deals with matters relating to tobacco displays and Position Paper B deals with matters about smoking restrictions.
Please note that consultation is limited to key industry stakeholders that are directly affected by the Amendment Act and Parts A and B are both provided for your comment. If you are not directly affected by either of these matters, please limit comment to the relevant Paper.
AACS will be responding to this submission request and we invite affected parties in WA to provide any input to us. Please note that the close-off date for submissions is 31 May 2010.
