AACS again calls for alcohol sales in Convenience stores

Jeff Rogut

AACS   CEO

In a recent submission to the Queensland government AACS called Convenience stores to be permitted to sell alcohol as part of our ‘road to recovery’ post COVID-19, among a number of other topics.

This submission was picked up by the media and it received substantial coverage last week in the Courier Mail, Channel 7, Channel 9, ABC Brisbane, ABC Gold Coast, Daily Mail, 4BC.

It is an important issue for our industry and one that we are continuing to pursue in every state. AACS Members are encouraged to contact their local Members to encourage them to support these moves as it could make a very positive impact on the performance of stores and also offer consumers convenience for alcohol purchases, choice and not having to visit crowded large stores in these COVID-19 times.

A transcript of one on our interviews is attached FYI, as well as some recent insights from CMA.
