CANCEL your dinner plans and book a date with your couch. The Golden Gaytime just got a whole lot better.
After extensive campaigning by the Golden Gaytime Ice Cream Tub Project Facebook page, which has more than 3000 followers, Streets Ice Cream has launched a 1.25L tub version of the iconic Golden Gaytime.
Now you’ll no longer have to do a cheeky run to the servo to get your caramelly, biscuity sweet fix. You can sneak a spoonful from your freezer whenever you want.
The hilarious Facebook page says its mission was to “force Streets to make an ice cream tub of 1L/2L Golden Gaytime. They would also need to make sure the biscuits hold up using … science or magic”.
Last night, they found out their campaign was successful.
“Everybody shut the f*** up … We did it … Well actually I did most of it … After writing my letter … THEY RELEASED IT (only in 1.25 litre … I guess that will have to do … For now),” the admin posted, accompanied by this photo of the ice cream sitting in a supermarket freezer.
Ice cream fans are already losing it.
“Omg this has officially changed my life,” wrote one Facebook user.
“No more sneaking out at night, hanging around dark service stations, hoody up, trying to hide your addiction to an occasional ‘Gaytime’ … do it at home now mate! With the missus! lol” another said.
Some people weren’t able to express their excitement in actual words: “UHRIEWEBFDIBCREIWJF”.
In a statement to news.com.au, a spokeswoman for Streets said the brand has released two new Gaytime-themed flavours — chocolate and mint — as well as the original Gaytime flavour.
“We have managed to fit Golden Gaytime into a tub with Golden Gaytime classic and two other new flavours. Each is a perfect union of vanilla, Gaytime biscuit crumbs and that unique Gaytime flavour. Grab a spoon and treat your tastebuds to this match made in dessert heaven.”
The 1.25L tubs cost $6.99 and are available at most grocery stories nationally.
This isn’t the first time Streets tried to jazz up the humble Gaytime — in December last year it released a limited edition green and gold Gaytime.
News.com.au has contacted the Golden Gaytime Ice Cream Tub Project Facebook page for comment, but they may be too busy eating ice cream to respond.
